Two More!!

I made two bags the "same" but reversed.

It took me a bit longer to make two at the same time since I cut, ironed, and sewed all the pieces at the same time. But they are cute and I made them and they are done. Whoo Hoo!!! Now for something a bit different??? maybe, I really like these bags!!!

I picked random stitches for the pockets.

More fabric and bags

This is the material I just bought. I plan on making at least 4 bags with it. I am not sure why or for who but I just really want to make them . :)

This will be bag number one. I let Savannah pick the colors.
This will be bag two. I liked the idea of having two different color polka dots.
This will be another one. Maybe I will make two of these??? I am not sure yet.

For help with binding

If you want to look up binding stuff I got some info from here.
http://www.ehow.co.uk/video_4437822_sewing-quilt-bindings.html
this is how to sew binding on. and corners.
http://www.ehow.co.uk/video_4437818_connecting-bias-strip-quilt.html
this is how to finish it off and have no bulk or seam.

Or in case I forget and want to look it up again. :)

On to the Hand quilting!!!

This is what it looks like with the binding on and not sewn to the back.
This is a close up of the starting point. You can't even tell that I really started here. Except a little back stitching on the front....
and on the back.
Here is a preview of what it will look like after I sew it to the back. Nice and clean corner.
Here is the back pinned to show you. (Probably Monique only cares, Hi Monique ;) )
I did it. I made a blanket about 45" x 60" Whoo Hoo!!! All that is left is the hand sewing and I have myself a blanket. Now to figure out where to put it. And what to start next. Maybe I can talk Jason into buying me another fabric set? Maybe I will make something out of the scraps from this blanket? I just don't know. Maybe I will put my iron away since its been out the whole time. (I think this is that longest time its been out. LOL) Maybe I will make the girls each a bag for church? maybe this is the start of making all the kids a blanket? I just don't know.

Done with the quilting part.

I chose to do a wavy "S" but after the first row I hated it but I didn't want to take it out so I had to finish the rest of the rows with it.
Here is a close up of the stitch.

Then after I did the rows I did the columns just in a regular stitch in the ditch but still am unhappy with the other stitch. Oh well though it is not coming out. So I cut my 6 strips for the binding. Sewed them together and ironed them in half. If you have never made your own binding, you don't know how difficult it is to iron it in half. I forget until I have to do it again. I made it all "purty" after I ironed it. Isn't it purty?
Tomorrow I will sew it on, then all I have left ...

is the...

HAND SEWING....

AAAWWWW!!!!!! I hate the hand sewing part!!!!!
And this is bigger then any table runner I have made... ;)

Now to decide the quilting.

Do I just sew on the lines?Do I sew diagonal through each square? Do I do a back and forth stitch kind like a "S" over and over? Do I try a new stitch that the machine has? Hmm.....

How am I supposed to cut this?

Its supposed to be in half. Its a 117" piece. I have to cut it to 58 1/2" each. Hmm...

This is gonna be the backing

I got it to match the dark blue on the front. The left is the square and the right it the material I just got to go on the back.

Finished the top.

This is the top of my quilt.
This is gonna be the binding.
What color should I do for the backing? Can I do a brown or will it be too much brown?

Embroidery samples

Ok I tried some stitches for fun.
The top is a blanket stitch, the next 4 are just fun stitches. The last row I did a couple different stitches in the same row. The first part is a triple stitch (does 3 stitches in each spot), the next is a slant stitch for knits, feather stitch, then a hand look quilt stitch. Not sure if I like them all but I tried then anyway.

Sewing with one hand

So I could take a video ...

My Quilt Project

Jason also bought a quilt project to start. Since I hate to pick colors and he knows it.
So I ironed all my fabric and cut it.
Then I sewed all my rows together in two hours.
Tomorrow I will iron all the rows and sew them together.
Yes I stayed up late to sew them but I just couldn't sleep knowing the pieces were there on the table waiting for the kids to mess with them. They were color coordinated and set up by number matching the instructions.
